Dart Fish:
Baptist Sports Medicine is pleased to offer Dart Fish software program, a cutting-edge tool used to aid identification and measurement of abnormal movement patterns. By using the Dart Fish software, BSM therapists are able to perform gait analysis tests as well as putting more objective measures to functional tests during research projects and evaluations. Physicals:
Baptist Sports Medicine is pleased to offer sports participation screenings, or "physicals", at a reduced cost to the community. Our staff of Physicians, Athletic Trainers, and Physical Therapists will review all of the necessary components of you or your child’s health to ensure healthy competition during the upcoming sports seasons.
The cost of the screening is $10 and meets TSSAA and TMSAA requirements. If you are a coach and are interested in scheduling mass screenings for your entire team, please contact us at 615-284-2539 or SportsMed@BaptistHospital.com.
Community Resource Form
Baptist Sports Medicine is excited to share medical resources and information with our coummunity. We offer several information packets on "hot topics" related to sports medicine. Each packet is geared towards your role as a parent or coach, and mailed directly to your home. To receive a community resource packet, simply click here to complete the form.
Free Basic Injury Assesments:
Baptist Sports Medicine offers free basic injury assessments to the general public with sports related injuries. The service is a Baptist Sports Medicine community service initiative designed to minimize the number of people who unnecessarily end up in emergency rooms due to minor injuries.
Commit to Get Fit:
Baptist Sports Medicine’s Commit to Get Fit™ program encourages a family approach to combat the alarming rise in youth obesity and incorporates fitness, nutrition and a positive mental focus.
Concussion Management Program:
Baptist Sports Medicine, through a partnership with the Howell Allen Clinic, offers the only comprehensive concussion program in Middle Tennessee. The program has a strong focus on preventing and managing sports related concussions, but offers many of its components to concussions stemming from any injury such as work or motor vehicle accidents. The program includes oversight from an ImPACT credentialed neurosurgeon, expert analysis from a sports neuropsychologist, sports-specific return to play testing, and ongoing concussion therapy for those with long-term symptoms.
Sports Nutrition:
Baptist Sports Medicine safe, effective, evidence-based nutrition services for health and performance athletes, sports organizations and physically active individuals and groups. Utilizing a Registered Dietician, who specializes in Sports Dietetics, our sports nutritionist specializes in applying the science of sports nutrition to fuel fitness and performance but also provides personalized sports medical nutrition therapy for special populations. our sports nutrition program includes assessment, nutrition diagnosis, intervention, counseling and follow-up evaluation.
Sports Psychology:
Sports Psychology is the scientific and clinical study of psychological and cognitive factors that influence participation and achievement is sporting activities. Baptist Sports Medicine's Sport Psychologist has over 10 years experience working with NHL and NFL teams, and can help athletes addresses clinical issues related to a variety of behaviors in athletics.
Educational Seminars:
Baptist Sports Medicine believes education plays a key role in the overall health and safety of our patients. By partnering with Saint Thomas Health Services' Office of Continuing Medical Education, Baptist Sports Medicine offers educational seminars for our athletes, coaches and parents.
